SINGER George Michael was arrested after his car crashed into a shop, it has emerged.

TWO US Navy servicemen are being held by the Taliban following an ambush, it was feared last night.

The men are believed to have been seized after they strayed into Afghanistan's eastern badlands in an armoured vehicle.

But it's not for his painting that Rolf has become known and rich. It's for his music. His signature song is no Mozart aria. It consists of the last words of a stockman dying somewhere in the outback.

King Lear's last words come with his one loyal daughter dead in his arms.

Nordin said police were constantly monitoring all entry and exit points that fall under their jurisdiction, namely KLIA and the Low Cost Carrier Terminal, both in Sepang, and the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah airport in Subang.

Asma:"I gave her a bath when she was just nine days old and she stopped breathing. We rushed her into the hospital and they didn't know why she stopped breathing. They told me I must have had the bath water too cold. But I hadn't. I knew that wasn't right."

Finally, the hospital put the Seedat family in touch with Dr Nichami at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. He ordered an extensive list of tests. These confirmed that little Aisha had Morquio's Syndrome, an inherited condition with a long list of serious symptoms including defdeformities of the bones, joints and ligaments and problems with internal organs.

Asma:"It's an inherited genetic fault. We didn't know it, but I'm a carrier and Sharif is a carrier.

You can only get it if both parents are carriers. We were both devastated."

A few months later, Asma became pregnant again. She was delighted, yet terrified.

Asma: "I think I went into a kind of depression. I knew there was a strong possibility our unborn child could also have Morquio. But I knew I didn't want a termination."

I am the ward councillor for Bathavon West and write with regard to the Core Strategy Consultation Document.

I have spoken at many meetings on this issue, including at the full council meeting in October, public meetings including at Corston and Whitchurch, council briefings and parish meetings.

My views are well-known to those who attended those meetings.

I am totally opposed to any wholesale urban extension of Bath into the surrounding villages and agricultural land; whether that land is in the green belt or not.

There is a need for additional housing for local people but not, in my view, on the scale suggested by central Government and thereby included in the core strategy document.

I fully support those residents in Newton St Loe and neighbouring villages who oppose the possibility of 2,000 houses being built on agricultural land west of Twerton.

I also take this opportunity of reminding readers of the views of the Conservative Party in regard to this issue.

Firstly, at the national level David Cameron has made it crystal clear that under a Conservative Government the Whitehall-driven house-building targets will be scrapped, with decision-making powers instead handed back to local councils.

Secondly, at the local level, as part of the core strategy document Conservatives have set out three clear policies: brownfield first; infrastructure upfront; jobs alongside housing.

It is important to remember that the current proposals are just that - proposals.

It is therefore very important that residents make their views loud and clear on what level of new building they deem acceptable. It is these views which will then inform the council on what levels of house-building are feasible as the core strategy process moves forward.

For the record, while understanding the need for the core strategy document to be published for consultation, I was one of only five councillors who voted against it because of the inclusion of options pandora beads wholesale for house-building on green belt land, some of which surrounds Newton St Loe.

HAU LATA and his team of Tongan stonemasons are the biggest thing happening in Stratford right now.

They're using ancient island stone- chiselling techniques to give Broadway its first facelift for many years.

The $1 million identity project funded by council loan has been controversial.

Some say it's a waste of money, others that the stainless steel mountain silhouette replicas look more like an America's Cup yacht in sail.

But nobody is knocking the quality of the workmanship of Hau Stone Contractors as they hand-split and place quarried rocks from York Rd (Stratford) and Surrey Rd (Inglewood) to make attractive corner walls at each of the town's main street roundabouts.

They do it by eye, using no rulers or spirit levels, working to Tongan music, chatting to passing locals, living at the New Commercial Hotel and eagerly consuming plates of home-baking from the Mt View Vineyard Church.

He did a good job and just kept getting more work, which has grown into a substantial business employing 15 men.

For Stratford District Council engineer Kim Jansen, seeing the Shelter Grove job was proof enough of Hau's ability to award him the tender.

"We're really enjoying being in Stratford, it's a very friendly town."

LORD MARLAND last night stepped up his election campaign for the chairmanship of the England and Wales Cricket Board by promising the 18 first-class counties and the MCC a pounds 100 million windfall.

In an email seen by The Sunday Telegraph, Marland states his intention to announce today that, if elected ahead of incumbent Giles Clarke, he will raise pounds 100 million to create a "capital development fund".

In his charm offensive to the counties, Marland writes: "I have accumulated a

great deal of fund-raising experience, both in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors, which I intend to bring to bear to help guarantee county cricket a sound footing."

A man who terrified staff at a Plymouth fast-food outlet with a mask and replica gun has been sent to custody after pleading guilty to affray.

Staff at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Wolseley Road, St Budeaux, became alarmed when they spotted Sonny Parsons peering in the window wearing a home-made balaclava and brandishing an imitation musket.

David Gittins, prosecuting, said it was 12.50am on Saturday, February 8, and the light outside the shop was poor.

Parsons, 20, was looking through the window wearing a woollen beanie hat pulled down over his face, with two eye-holes cut in it, like a balaclava.

He was staring in and holding an object which staff thought was a large knife, but which turned out to be a replica antique musket.

They called the police and Parsons threw the gun to the ground when they arrived.

Mr Gittins said an expert had examined the gun and described it as "a realistic imitation firearm".

When arrested, Parsons, from Boringdon Avenue, St Budeaux, told police he was out wandering about looking for his friend and forgot he had the gun in his pocket.

His previous convictions, dating back to 2006, include offences of public disorder, common assault, assault on police and resisting a constable.

The incident happened while Parsons was on bail, and he is currently in custody for a previous offence.
